"I only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me." - Dance, Dance, NOT on Kidz Bop
Thank you Fall Out Boy for sticking to your guns! Finally a band that says, "hmm maybe my song is not appropriate for little children," or at least something along those lines.
"I've gotten one million e-mails and IMs about 'Dance, Dance' being on Kidz Bop," said Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. "Here's the answer: We don't know what's going on, because they can use a song without your permission. However, I can't imagine some young kids singing 'crawling into bed with me' and all. If they change the lyrics, I believe they need to get permission."
I can't believe that Kidz Bop's record label, Razor & Tie, doesn't even need to contact the group. They just pay publishing fees. No permission necessary. Crazy, huh.
If I was an artist and found out some kids were playing around with my song, ruining its content and making light of heavy situations, I WOULD BE LIVID. Good thing I'm tonedeaf.
To end on a happy note, Razor & Tie announced that they were pulling the song off the CD a week after the original announcement.
I say that's a win for the good guys.

"Complicated" issues for Kidz Bop
"Why'd you have to go and make things so complicated? I see the way you're actin' like you're somebody else gets me frustrated." - Complicated, Kidz Bop 3
So when I found out Kidz Bop did a cover for "If I were a Boy" by Beyonce I was really surprised. Not because they chose a Beyonce song, because they've done plenty of those, but because "If I were a Boy" tackles a pretty complicated issue of gender stereotypes in relationships. Sexism. But when the kids sing it, all heartache vanishes. In fact, Kidz Bop almost turns the sad song into a nice lullaby maybe sung around Christmas time by the church kids choir. Sleep away your problems little ones.
In earlier posts I noted that Kidz Bop is notorious for doing covers about bad relationships (ie: cheating boyfriends). I don't think I can emphasize my point enough.

"Let It Rock!"
"I see your dirty face hide behind your collar, what is done in vain, truth is hard to swallow." - Let It Rock, Kidz Bop 15
I apologize for the abundance of videos, but each one is so shocking to me. Are you watching what I'm watching? Are you hearing what I'm hearing? Why aren't we stopping this? These poor kids...at least some of them are actually decent dancers. Kudos!
Let It Rock - More bloopers are a click away
Also, if you were unaware, I've attached lyrics to various songs that these kiddos are singing to each blog post. Some of them are big words and big meanings for little kids. I guess the "truth is hard to swallow" lesson needs to be preached at some point in their young lives. Life lessons always go down with a spoonful of sugar and autotune!

Urban Dictionary lets us know "What Hurts the Most"
"What hurts the most, was being so close. And havin' so much to say." -What Hurts the Most, Kidz Bop 11
Urban Dictionary may be Webster's less intelligent and cruder brother, but like bloggers vs. journalists, its definitions and voice has something to say and prove. Here are some definitions of Kidz Bop, approved by many followers.
kidz bop: The soccer mom's attempt to make most of today's music suitable for young children. This leads to butchering good songs or making crappy ones even worse. These travesties of music are commonly advertised on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon and are sold on CDs and tapes to unwitting customers.

kidz bop: The end of music, or at least good music, as we know it. This is the franchise of CDs with hit songs that are horribly remade by children and others. It is an insult to the artists who make the original songs that are remade by these people. These remade songs are despicably horrid and sound so bad that they make people literally want to destroy something. One cannot stand a Kidz Bop song.

We often discount not-so-credible sources, like Urban Dictionary, but I find that like angry blogging mothers, there's something to be said about people who care. Someone took the time to write something nasty on the web site and a lot of people took the time to look up the definition and create an opinion. It looks like 681 people agree (unless people like both definitions, we could possibly have some overlapping...but that's besides the point) with this movement of hatred toward Kidz Bop. So can we say that Urban Dictionary is a complete waste of time?

These other bloggers "say it right"
"Say it right, say it all. You either got it or you don't. You either stand or you fall." - Say It Right, Kidz Bop 12
Check out what these other bloggers have to say about Kidz Bop. Make sure you check out the comments. They're pretty humorous. Though these blogs are not the most credible of sources because most of these blogs are from aggravated parents, read their posts with discretion but also notice their genuine hate. You can't make this emotion up.
SUBURBAN TURMOIL : "Kidz Bop. Why?"
DIRT & NOISE : "Kidz Bop Suckz"
THEBLUEKIRBY : "Kids Bop - Agh...they're already on volume 9..."
Collective thoughts:
"...the cruelest form of aural torture I can imagine," said Lindsay Ferrier, Suburban Turmoil.
"I cry a little on the inside after I scream," commented creative-Type Dad (Tony), on Suburban Turmoil's blog
